Whether you’re a small business owner or amping up your personal social media campaign for professional development, curb appeal is important. That’s where social media banners come in.
They’ve grown to take up more and more real estate across social media accounts over the years, providing either an excellent space to make a statement or a vast amount of dead space. Because we’re all aiming for the former, I’ve made a template so you can create an eye-catching Facebook banner for yourself (or shoot me a message HERE and I’ll design a custom banner for you!). But first, some inspiration…
▲ This is my latest Facebook banner. All decked out for Valentine’s Day, of course. With so many new things going on in The Bramble Lab, I had to get creative with how to relay a lot of information without over-cluttering. To get started, I asked myself the question, “if your viewers take only one thing away from your Facebook page, what do you want it to be?” For me it’s the bit about my Valentine’s Day cards being available in the shop, so I created the largest amount of contrast around that piece of information by dedicating white space, a bold pop of color, and contrasting text to it.
▲ Hanna Andersson is showing off the beauty of whitespace while also doing some subtle hashtag advertising. The whitespace in combination with their bold red profile picture helps make the logo memorable (side note, I’m in love with their spring clothing line and I really want THESE booties in toffee!).
▲ Seaside Spirit is doing an incredible job of incorporating their profile picture into their banner picture. I mean really, those paintbrushes and the wood texture background are perfection.
▲ Leave it to Zara to be dramatic! Notice the complimenting colors and how both halves of the banner have weight/interest to them, but the majority of the weight is on the right side, to help balance out the profile picture. Balance is key.
Okay, so now that we’re all pros with an eye for balanced design, I’ll leave you with the template…
I’ve saved the .ai (Illustrator) file to Dropbox >>download it here<< and leave a comment or shoot me a message if you have questions or want to talk about working with me to create a custom design for your brand!
