Well, I’m back! I’ve always had the intention of getting back into the swing of blog posts but wasn’t sure how long it’d take me to go from holy-crap-I-have-a-baby-and-now-I’ll-never-do-normal-things-again, to holy-crap-I-have-a-baby-and-now-I-might-pull-off-one-normal-thing-per-day. But I’m doing it, I’m here, doing one normal thing today! Winning!
So to kick off this ‘I’m being normal party,’ let me tell you everything that has happened since I did a mic drop when no one was looking…
I had a baby! We made the announcement on social media back in June but never formally here so in case you missed the update, this is Amelie Lynn LeBeau! She was born on June 4th at 11:13pm after 36 hours of labor (I kid you not. I’ll spare you the details until next week). We’re totally obsessed with her and cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives loving and getting to know her.
We’ve also somehow managed to scatter in small outings like trips to the farmer’s market, brunch at our a favorite cafe, walks in our adorable neighborhood, a toast to the solar eclipse, and a road trip to visit family in Minnesota.
But to be completely honest, the whole having a baby thing sums our summer up pretty thoroughly. So please don’t ask me what else I’ve been up to and don’t look at me like I’m a failure when I point at my baby with a confused look on my face (yes, this has happened). Because while having a baby and caring for said baby may look like a short list of things, the subset list to that list is long and exhausting. It’s also wonderful, so soo wonderful!
But more on that in the coming days. I’m putting the polishing touches on our birth story and will publish it here because 1) I know some people like reading those, and 2) I think birth stories are important and should be remembered. This blog, being a story about life in my shoes, seems like a good place for something like that.
So until next week, cheers to the weekend!
psst, follow me on Instagram for updates in the meantime!
