So last week was crazy. Really crazy.
On Saturday I introduced The Bramble Lab to the Iowa City community at Not Your Mother’s Craft Fair, and I was ridiculously nervous leading up to the event! I was nervous that the audience wouldn’t love my designs as much as I do, and nervous that my fellow artisans and small business owners wouldn’t be as excited to meet me as I was to meet them.
You know, those goofy “what if they don’t like me” fears that we’ve all had since we were two.
But you know what?? It went SO well!
I sold out of several designs, had a couple inquiries from local brick-and-mortar shops
eeek! happy dance!
I was also pretty happy with my first booth display – I found the antique cheese boxes at a local thrift shop, and succulents at a local floral shop.
And the board I displayed my cards on? I made it. Yep, $10 for a bundle of snow fence stakes at Lowe’s, plus a handsaw, wood glue, fancy gold-tipped nails, cutesy gold binder clips from Target… and voila!
Next, I’m working on improving my online ordering system (it’s currently a paypal system which isn’t horribly intuitive) and seeking out more urban craft fairs (any recommendations?).
Thank you for the warm welcome, Iowa City!
