It’s been two weeks but it feels like I’ve been away from my blog for ages. These past two weeks have brought a thunderstorm of emotions around here, for many reasons that I don’t feel ready to open up about. Someday, but not today.
Today I want to take a stroll on the sunny, optimistic side and talk about all the positive things that have happened in the last two weeks!
And get ready, because this first one’s a doozy…
▲ We bought a house! We’ve been on the hunt since January and like I talked about HERE, waiting for the right one to come along was haaard. After missing a couple houses that we had our hearts set on, we snatched this little 60’s gem the day it was listed. We don’t take possession until early June (June! more waiting) so in the meantime, I have landscaping sketches (because good lord, why is there no landscaping?), paint swatches, and kitchen blueprints (this baby currently has orange counters. no bueno) buzzing around my head. Rest assured, I’ll have lots of before, during, and after photos for you this summer! Now… hurry up and get here, June. Side note: sorry for the elusive photo, I promise you’ll get your fill come June.
▲ The last two weeks have brought a frenzy of winter and spring. Five inches of snow for Koda and…
▲ …70 degree sunshine for me. This guy, in all of his winter coat hairiness, was one hot pooch. We sat on a secluded rock overlooking the dam for half an hour, soaking up the sunshine. Koda wasn’t too into it, and tried to dive into the icy river several times.
▲ My older sister and her (almost) one year old drove to Iowa City for a weekend! Brandon was out of town so naturally we drank pots of tea, ordered big bowls of pho, and had some fun with the Jamberry nail samples my friend in Maui had mailed me.
▲ I’ve been catching up on my new year’s resolution to read twelve fiction books this year. It’s taken me two months to read one book and I’ve read 75% of that book in the last four days. So yea, I have the potential to either pass this resolution with flying colors or fail it miserably.
▲ And my parents visited Iowa City for an afternoon! We sipped salted caramel lattes, shopped around Downtown Iowa City, and visited my favorite Iowa State Park: Lake Macbride (HERE‘s a blog post from when Brandon and I hiked there last year).
It’s been an eventful two weeks and I’m so thankful that March is here. Warm weather and the keys to our house, are on the not-so-far-away horizon! eek!
What’s the most exciting / positive thing that’s happened in your life these past two weeks?
