Last month we journeyed across the plains to the Iowa State Fair and I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first as to whether or not it would live up to the Minnesota State Fair.
While this may not have as large of a turnout or have as many bells and whistles, I was definitely surprised and am looking forward to making this trip an annual summer tradition (you can read my full review of the Iowa State Fair HERE).
I’m a huge supporter of all things local (I explain my locavore diet HERE and how I support local businesses through my new job HERE), so I get kinda excited about fairs; they are after all a festival of local food producers! So naturally, I ended up eating my share of incredibly delicious ice cream which was made from Iowa dairy, pork sandwich from Iowa pork producers, turkey from Iowa Turkey producers, plus locally crafted root beer and cheesy corn dishes made from Iowa-grown corn. It was one of those deliciously blissful days…
