I wanted a project that would push me to try something new, to take me outside my comfort zone, and to challenge my creativity. Between life with a ten month old and with some exciting travel plans in our future, I decided I’d have the best shot at enjoying and sticking with the project if I kept my parameters flexible. So, I’m doing 100 days of art under the hashtag #the100dayartist. Sketching, painting, and photography will be my main focus areas but I also plan on diving into some new mediums along the way!
- to stretch myself creatively because creativity is a muscle and now that my hours spent working are limited (because of this cuteness), I need to get better at being able to dive into my work with minimal warm-up time.
- to reach outside my comfort zone and use this as an opportunity to try techniques and mediums I wouldn’t normally play with!
- to define what being an artist means to me – as a graphic designer, how can I better utilize favorite mediums within my design work, and why do artists (such as moi) feel so awkward calling themselves artists?
