Well this week sure didn’t go according to plan. I woke up Monday certain I had a cold but repeatedly saying “I’ll just power through it.” Two hours later, I could practically see the bad-mannered little virus germs holding up big ol “nope” signs. A cold and hallucinations? maybe. Or maybe those little a-holes really do carry a stack of nope cards around with them. They’re jerks nonetheless.
▲ last week I worked from a cafe one day which is probably where I picked up my cold. also this bumpie shot is now one week old but for those of you who’ve been anxious to see how much the little gal has grown, there you have it. we’re at 24 weeks as of today and my app says she’s now the size of a cantaloupe.
So I’ve spent the majority of this week battling a horrible sinus cold with the all-powerful (please register my sarcasm here) pregnant-lady dayquil: hot green tea and honey. Pounding headaches accompanied by my eyes being either too blurry to see anything on a computer screen, or tearing so much that I looked like I’d been watching the end of Titanic on repeat. I’m notorious for finding the worst winter viruses – I always pick up a couple and at least one that’s on steroids (remember h1n1? yea, I was quarantined with that one). And since pregnancy sends the immune system on vacation to keep it from attacking the baby, I assumed I’d be sick for a solid nine months. Luckily this has been my only cold so far, so I’ll take one lousy week.
▲ this dog. In an attempt to calm my watering eyes and pounding headaches, I slept most of the week away with a cold towel over my eyes. Every now and then I’d peek out to see this guy sitting with full attention on me. I’ve decided that he was probably either worried about me or bored and wanted me to go to the office with him. Probably the latter.
Anyway today I feel like the fog has lifted and although my nose is still completely useless, I feel so much better than I had all week and I’m raring to pick up where I left off on Monday afternoon. This week was slated to be a big one but since that just wasn’t in the cards, I’ve simply bumped my calendar by one week.
This weekend I’m going to do my best to rest and finish punching this cold virus in the face, clean house (something that’s been sorely overlooked these past days), soak up our balmy 50+ degree weather (can’t. wait!), and take a day trip to Chicago to pick up a furniture piece for our nursery (it’s coming together – I’m sharing details on Monday!). In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderfully restful, cold-free weekend!
